About Ocean Plastic Resin

Ocean Plastic Resin is in the process of filing for not-for-profit 501(c)3 status. The organization was created to collect, process and sell ocean plastic. We strive to partner with existing organizations that collect ocean and river plastic. We are working with an existing plastic recycling facility in Southern California and hope to partner with brands such as Method and Ecover, who are committed to continuing to use ocean plastic in their bottles.

To create and maintain this complex Ocean Plastic Resin supply chain, we are seeking public and private funding to launch operations. All plastic pellet profits will be put back into the not-for-profit to maintain and grow our service area.

Currently, we are prioritizing collecting HDPE plastic from Indonesia, The Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and China. Our team is located in Hawaii and California, but we want to work with organizations in these countries to collect ocean and river plastic. We will provide tools to these organizations to help sort, clean and chip HDPE plastic. Once it is ready, we will ship containers full of HDPE plastic chips to the recycling facility to be processed into Ocean Plastic Resin pellets.

Products made with Ocean Plastic Resin pellets will be 80% post-consumer recycled plastic and 20% pure Ocean Plastic Resin. This blend ensures high quality and can be used in products such as outdoor wear, transit cards and glass frames. HDPE floats, so kayaks and other plastic floatation devices can also be made from Ocean Plastic Resin.

We carefully document our supply chain, ensuring products made from our Ocean Plastic Resin can tell their unique story of sustainability and humanity.
